Why Visitation Academy?

Visitation Academy’s Mission Statement reflects our goal; to create an affirmative environment conducive to successful learning with Jesus as our center, responding to the call asking only this: “to act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with our God.”    Micah 6:8. We are called. 

• Visitation Academy is a National Blue Ribbon and Middle States Accrdited. We have been recognized, as a high performing school by the National Catholic Education Association. Status from the Department of Education in Washington DC.   
• Visitation Academy offers a competitive 21st century curriculum, preparing our students for higher education. Weekly student liturgies, Morning Prayer assemblies, seasonal prayer services and daily religious education classes place God at our center.
• Technology enhances our daily curriculum and develops skills that students use in PreK3 through 8.  

• Visitation Academy was awarded in  2019 the National Innovations in Catholic Education (ICE) award for our Maker Space Room.  The staff at  Today’s Catholic Teacher  searched for the schools with the best innovations in Catholic education, and more than 100 schools responded with descriptions of unique programs and projects. The award honored 12 Catholic schools that have led the way by implementing exemplary, innovative programs to improve the teaching and learning of their students, faculty, and staffs. We were proud to receive this Innovations in Catholic Education Award and are excited to continue to provide our students with exemplary S.T.E.M. activites. 

• Key elements to our Science program include hands on experiments in our Science lab and S.T.E.M projects.  Visitation Academy was proudly chosen to participate in the Archdiocese S.T.E.M Fair for the past two years.
• Visitation’s strong academic program is enhanced by Language Programs, Physical Education, Art and Music. Bergen County Services provide supplemental education to qualified students in compensatory Ed, speech and occupational therapy. 
• The addition of our newly improved Early Childhood Center has enabled us to attend to the needs of our early learners. Here, students in grades PreK3, PreK4 and Kindergarten engage in academic, social, technological and physical activities to prepare them for grade school. 
• Achievements of the students are reflected in a variety of ways. Ninety-eight percent of graduates are accepted to the Catholic high school of their choice and many receive academic scholarships. Students are recognized for their accomplishments through honor rolls and the Jr. National Honor Society. 
• Throughout the academic year, our children are encouraged to develop a variety of interests through: Student Council, Participation in Liturgies, Field Trips, Mock Trials, Essay and Poster Contests, Band Concerts, Christmas and Spring Concerts, Visitation Voices, Spring Track and CYO Basketball. 
• Visitation’s Faculty is New Jersey State Certified with a number holding a Master’s Degree in their specific field. Professional Development is an annual requirement and complies with State standards under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Newark.
