This year during Catholic Schools Week we will be raising awareness of the sanctity of human life by teaching our students, parents, and families about the need for heart surgery of many children born with Down Syndrome in developing countries. We will be sharing information about the Hearts of Joy Foundation through our Newsletter and School Messenger. Each student will have the opportunity to decorate a heart which we can hang in our hallways and in our windows. We will be asking for voluntary donations to this nonprofit foundation, founded by a local Catholic School alumni, Lauren Costabile!
Click here for links to the Hearts of Joy webpage so you can see all the wonderful life-saving surgeries your donations will be going towards!
“God doesn't require us to succeed, he only requires that you try.” -- Saint Teresa of Calcutta
Building on the central goal of Catholic schools to form saints, Catholic schools teach and embrace the whole person, body, mind and spirit. The fact that all members of a Catholic school community share the Christian vision of faith that Christ is the foundation of Catholic education is what unites the school as a faith-filled community.
While faith is the binding element in Catholic schools, the Church reiterates that parents are the first teachers of their children. Holding this tenet, Catholic school communities expand beyond the walls of school buildings to envelop the family as an integral part of the school community. Together teachers, administrators, staff, students and parents fuel the light of faith by integrating culture with faith and faith with living.
Every student has a chance to submit their own drawing to be entered to win the chance to be this school year’s Spirit Wear design. It is $3 to enter and all drawings will be displayed during Catholic School’s Week and the school will vote on 1/31/25.
